Getting Started
How do I create a profile?
Click 'Create Your Profile' on the homepage and sign in with your Google account. You'll then be guided through your basic details, community, education and family information. Name, gender and date of birth are required; you must be at least 18. After saving your basic details you can add photos.
Is registration free?
Yes. Creating a profile, browsing, shortlisting, sending and receiving interests, and messaging the members you're connected with are all free. Premium and Spotlight are currently free too.
Can my family members help manage my profile?
Yes. In Settings, under Family managers, you can invite up to 2 family members by email. Once they accept, they can help edit your profile, browse, and send interests and messages for you; everything they send is marked as sent by them, and you can see their recent activity or remove them at any time.
Profile & Photos
How do I verify my profile?
After adding a main photo, open Edit Profile and choose 'Take Selfie to Verify' (or 'Upload a selfie instead'). A team member compares your selfie with your main photo, usually within 24–48 hours. If approved, your profile shows a 'Verified' badge. This isn't an ID check.
Can I hide my photos from strangers?
Women members can hide all their photos from other members from their Dashboard. New photos are also only visible to others after our team approves them.
Can I control who sees my profile?
Yes. In Settings you can choose who can find your profile (everyone, only members who match your partner preferences, or nobody while you take a break) and who can send you interests.
What happens if I change my profile photo after verification?
Your first (primary) photo is locked after verification to maintain trust. If you need to change it, you'll be asked to re-submit a selfie for verification. Other photos can be added or removed freely.
How do I download my biodata?
Open your own profile (menu → 'View my profile') and click 'Download Biodata'. It creates a PDF with your profile and family details that you can share with families. Without a profile, you can use the free biodata maker.
Matching & Communication
How does the matching system work?
You can browse and filter members by age, height, community, education, profession, location and more, and save searches to get alerts about new matches. When both people have added their star (nakshatra) and rashi, the Horoscope tab shows a guna compatibility score out of 36. 'Today's Picks' on the Dashboard suggests profiles based on those scores.
How do I send an interest to someone?
Click the heart on a profile card or 'Send Interest' on their profile page (up to 20 a day). They'll be notified. If they accept, you're connected: you can message each other, and you can both choose to exchange contact details.
Can I skip a profile and review it later?
Yes. Click the 'Skip' button on any profile card while browsing. Skipped profiles won't appear in your browse results. You can review and unskip them anytime from the 'Skipped' tab in your Interests page.
Costs
Does anything cost money?
No. Everything on TheHinduMatrimony.com is currently free, including Premium and Spotlight. If we ever introduce charges, the price will be shown clearly before you pay anything.
Safety & Privacy
How do you prevent fake profiles?
Photos are reviewed by our team before other members can see them, members can verify with a selfie, and anyone can report or block a profile. Our team reviews reports and can suspend accounts.
How do I report a suspicious profile?
On the profile page, click 'Report', choose a reason and add details if you like. Reports are confidential and reviewed by our team. You can also block the profile so they can't contact you.
How do I recognise a scam?
Never send money, gifts, gift cards or crypto to someone you haven't met, and never pay 'customs' or courier fees to release a gift. Be cautious of anyone who avoids video calls or pitches an investment. If someone asks for money, report the profile. Our Safety Tips page has more detail.
Is my personal data safe?
We use encrypted connections, private photo storage with time-limited links, and we never sell your data. Your phone number is only shared with a connection when you both agree. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my account or get a copy of my data?
Email us at support@thehindumatrimony.com from the email address you sign in with, and we'll do it within 30 days.
